I recently got engaged - yay! And so, of course, the planning has begun! I've been searching through websites and magazines, and I've also been trying on dresses, shopping for shoes and picking out colors - all that fun stuff. I don't yet have a sweet way to keep everything straight - but I came up with a pretty fun idea that I'm going to put together. As soon as we have our engagement photos taken, I'm going to finish up my design and get this book ordered - in the meantime, I couldn't wait to share my idea here!
I've decided to create a softcover 8.5x11 StoryBook (US|Canada), and design it to my liking using the new Divine Wedding Planning Digital Additions (US|Canada) to keep track of all my planning materials. I'm adding slightly decorative paper to the backgrounds of the pages, then for pages like you see below, I'm inserting a text box to create journaling lines. To do this, I'm using the underline key to create a whole row of lines with a return at the end of it, then copying it over & over 'til I have as many lines as I need. I'll use these lines to jot things down and keep track of.
I knew I'd want to keep track of things as I shopped for my dress, so the first pages are all about that. On the next few pages, I created a spot for me to scribble down guests as I think of them until I am ready to sit down and put together my formal guest list.
You could really create as many pages as you like with whatever on them that you want. I haven't planned out the rest of my pages yet, but my mind is full of thoughts. I plan to even leave some pages completely blank to jot down web addresses, names and phone numbers, etc. of all kinds of fun things i run across. I've got a feeling that it'll prove to be a handy dandy place to collect up all my wedding planning research. :)
For the cover shown below, you'll notice that the couple is not my fiance and I. We haven't quite yet gotten around to having formal engagement photos taken, so for mockup purposes, I had to borrow a pretty engagement photo of my podmate Kaila and her fiance (she's getting married soon too, so I bet she'll be getting a book like this too!). Here's what that cover ended up looking like:
The coolest part of this whole project is what I'll have after the wedding is over - a record of the journey that I took through the planning and everything. I can't wait! :)
Jenny, have you done anything more to complete this project? I'm a vendor for a bridal show this weekend and I'd like to talk about this project.

And there are a couple of wonderful guestbook templates available through our websites. I used them for photos of my daughter and her husband to see what it would have been like to use it for their guestbook. Unfortunately it became available for us to use two days after they married, but it makes a lovely book!

Love the idea, Jenny! And, of course, I loved the cards you created for weddings, too. Any idea of when those might be available for customers? Hoping soon...so we don't need to hand perforate the cards ourselves!!! :-)

Congratulations Jenny! This is such a cool idea! My granddaughter is planning her wedding (I spent the weekend designing her wedding invitations so we could take advantage of the sale at the Photo Center ... got them uploaded and submitted just in time!)... your Wedding Planner idea will be so helpful! I'm also planning to create a StoryBook guest book using her engagement photos - one full page next to a blank page for guests to write on. Weddings are so much fun ... best wishes to you and your fiance!

Great Idea!!! Here is another one that I stole from my upline: A personalized Guest Book for your special day: 11x8.8.5 leather cut out cover/storybook Invitation or special photo on first page showing thru, each page is blank with a special photo of the couple somewhere on the page with some type of embelishments to jaz it up a bit. You would need the special storybook pen but each quest can right a special note to the happy couple to look back on after the wedding! its so much more persoanl than the traditional guest book with just names on a line.
