Happy New Year Creative Memories Fans!
2011 was quite a year, wasn't it? Are you ready for what 2012 has to bring? I sure am. I had a wonderful New Years weekend spent with my family. It was very low key, just the way I like it. One of the things I enjoyed the most was staying up with my family watching movies until it was time to watch the ball drop. It was the first time ever for both my 9 year old & 4 year old to witness such an event on the t.v. I didn't pull out my big camera to snap photos of our time cuddling on the couch, instead I used my cell phone. None of the photos turned out that great, but I am just thrilled to have captured our quirkiness, journal about the fun we had and the little things my kids said that made us laugh and smile.
Which leads me into my first and simple little project I created for 2012. I used to journal a lot. I have always found peace in writing down my thoughts onto paper, good or bad. This is something I used to do way before I ever had children. I'm not sure why I stopped, but it has been wonderful to at least journal memories on my scrapbook pages for the past 8 years. But this year, I will begin to journal more and more for myself.
To create the journaling, I used the left over cardboard packaging from two ABC sticker packs, White Simple ABC Stickers, Reflections Designer-Print Paper, Title Stickers, Tone-on-Tone Paper, Paper Tags & Paper Flowers.
To create the front & back covers, trim two cardboard pieces to 7 1/2" x 9 1/2" and adhere both to the back side of 12" x 12" pattern paper, centered. Fold all four corners towards inside of cardboard, then fold and glue all four sides to cardboard.
Adhere 7" x 9" piece of cardstock to inside of both covers to hide seams. Punch two holes on one side of each cover 3" from top & bottom.
Use covers as a guide to punch holes in 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" page inserts using cardstock and pattern paper.
Put book together using binder rings. Add title and embellishments to front cover of book.
Really easy and something pretty you can keep at your bedside table for when you are ready to journal your thoughts from your day and even inspirational ideas.
Find the complete instructions and supply list for this project here.
(Edited to add: Binder rings can be purchased at any office supply store)
Cheers to you for an awesome 2012!
