When the Holidays start approaching, I'm always on the lookout for great ways to give simple gifts to my long list of people that have been a special part of my family's life through the year. With so many friends, neighbors, teachers for my three boys, our soccer coach, special education teachers for my son with Autism, friends at church, co-workers, etc....the list can get to be pretty large! Still, I always want to make sure that they know how special they are to my family, and one of my favorite ways to do this is through handmade gift bags filled with yummy treats.
These gift bags are fairly simple to make, yet still have a great "I handmade this just for you feel."
We fill ours with our favorite fudge recipe and they are always a huge hit! I also love that its easy to include a matching card with a letter, note or gift card.
To make these gift bags all you need for the base is a sheet of paper cut down to 11"x8 1/2". I'm using Holidazzle today.
Next, you're going to use your Scoring Blade to score according to this template (all measurements in inches from the left side and bottom of the paper):
After you're done scoring, you will use your All-Purpose Scissors to cut on the bold lines at the bottom of the paper. It should look like this once you're done:
Next, fold on all of the score lines to start shaping the bag.
A little Tape Runner along the side (the sides will overlap a little) and on the bottom holds it all together.
Once your bags are filled, you can close the top by pinching the edges together and folding over about 3/4".
A strip of paper ribbon with tape runner along the back holds it closed.
Add a Title Sticker with Foam Squares to bring a little embellishment to the front of the bag and you are all set with a fun gift that anyone would love to receive!
Thankfully these bags are simple to make, so I can make a lot of them in just one evening. The best part is having my boys help hand them out! They are always so excited to give something to the people they care about. And this year, some of my boys are old enough to help make the bags, which will make giving them away even more special.
Happy Holidays!
Ginger

Really nice stuff. You have made the process too easy with this Do-it-yourself approach.
Choosing a gift bag for kids is a tough task which requires too much energy and time in finding. Along with that, they are costly as well at the same time. But making such an item at home will surely make your kids happy. Really loved the way you described it. Great to-the-point description.

When I was a traditional scrapper, I never understood using expensive paper for crafts. Now that I'm digital, this is a good way to use all stash that I no longer use.
